Islam emerged in Arabia, specifically in the city of Mecca, in the seventh century C.E. (Matthews, 386). With the evolution of Islam in Mecca, Mecca is known as the center of Islam. Islam is the youngest of the major world religions with the exception of Sikhism, which is a derivative of Hindu and Muslim beliefs that appeared in India. Frederick Douglass’ Narrative serves as an influential text which provides detailed examples of how slavery allowed a country and a government to justify the brutal dehumanization and oppression of an entire race of people. Using personal experience, Douglass explains how the slave institution not only dehumanized himself, but also how the process affected other slaves and the slaveowners as well. Douglass relies on a strong imagery relating back to animals to show this dehumanization process, which the essay will be discussion and critically analysing the effectiveness of using imagery to present his arguments. Douglass begins by stating how dehumanization begins from birth. The fact that something as simple as trouser was considered to be a high reward and luxury by slaves shows a level of dehumanization, as clothes were a normal commodity for white people. By using the word â€Å"mange†, it likens Douglass to a stray dog, who by scrubbing away at his skin hopes to become suitable for a good home. Children would also be fed â€Å"mush†, which was boiled, coarse corn meal, which they would eat off the floor with whatever they could use. At night, children and adults alike would be expected to sleep on the floor together, and Douglass laments how his feet were cra cked from exposure to frost during the night. Throughout his reflection of his childhood, Douglass refers to how the children were regularly referred to as â€Å"pigs†, and how their were forced to mimic the behaviour of pigs due to how they were treat by their owners. The children are forced to fight in order to gain the most food, or to have clothing, which instates a mindset of individuality early on in their lives: only the toughest will survive. This is probably the norm for a man named William Henry (Bill) Gates III, who is currently the richest man in the world with over 44 billion dollars in worth. Bill Gates was born October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. Bill was the only son and the middle child of William and Mary Gates. He had two sisters, Kristianne and Libby. Bill nickname growing up was Trey because of the III after his name. Bill's childhood was somewhat uneventful until his second year at Lakeside Private School, which his father insisted he attend. The school had contracted with General Electric to time-share a computer mainframe. The school received an ASR-33 type teletype machine to interact with General Electric's Mark II time sharing system. This system costed the school about $89 a month and $8 per hour for time on-line. Gates quickly ran bills in excess of $2000 a month with his friends. This great amount of time on the computer soon resulted in Bill surpassing all his teacher's knowledge about computers. With this knowledge Bill and his friends formed a group called the Lakeside Programming Group or LPG. It was in this group that Bill Gates would meat future co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen. Before starting college at Harvard University, Bill was busy figuring the costs of building a personal computer. He had seen ads in Popular Science Magazine for Intel's latest processor the 8008 which costed about $860. Since Altair wanted some additional features, Bill then brought in Ric Weiland who helped in the additional developing of the software. These changes were ready to run in July of 1975 and Micro-soft was born. Micro-soft which soon dropped the hyphen from the name, now was receiving contracts from all the big manufacturers such as Intel, Motorola, Commodore, and General Electric. These contracts resulted in Bill being to wrapped up in filling the demands that he left Harvard after finishing 6 semesters. In 1978 Microsoft moved its operations to Redmond, Washington, where it has constantly expanded its campus. In 1980, IBM came to Microsoft to find an operating system for their new PC computer line. The two companies worked together to start the modern PC era that we know today. From Japan, they can target asian countries which include Pakistan, India and Sri lanka because these countries are showing rapid growth and people has high purchasing power. From European production plant, Toyota can target European countries which are a very big market and Toyota enjoys great market share in these countries. American production plant can be used to target America and Canada and other small countries in that region. The Thirty Years War Essay -- History, War

The section of documents, numbering nineteen to twenty three, consist of many different accounts ranging from of a portion of the â€Å"Swedish rule of war†, a theologian’s take on peace, the assassination of General Wallenstein, an account of battle and even a Cardinal’s warning. These documents vary in years from 1632-1634, drawing a close to the middle segment of the Thirty Years War. These articles illustrate not only events such as a General’s murder, Swedish defeat or French apprehension, they also show a growing desire for peace and political well-being contrasted with serious religious sentiment. At this stage in history Sweden is now involved with many allying to protect German liberties. The balance of power in Europe, always a delicate manner, was naturally threatened by the war, kingdoms such as France watched closely to protect their own states. It is through the coupling of this time of history with the documents listed here that one ca n see an intricate web of motives, including ones from political success and dominance to religious purity, all under the blanket of a â€Å"religious war†. This leads the audience to ask and judge where Europeans’s opinion and ideas stand considering the war as the unique solution to war loomed ahead. To investigate these different motives three out of the five mentioned documents will be closely analyzed, beginning with document twenty. Entitled â€Å"Memorandum of Hoe von Hoenegg† this article was written in Dresden, Germany by Lutheran Theologian Matthias Hoe von Hoenegg. It is his answer to the Elector of Saxony’s question on the religious consequences of peace. Just before this, the Heilbronn League formed, coming under Sweden and France to fight against imperialist forces. Yet, Sa... ... only one question: how, how would France take these next steps for their national interests. Richelieu ends his letter with this heed, â€Å"but that if, in order to remedy the present evil, one fails to make an extraordinary expenditure now, it will be necessary to make one in the future—through it would then not produce any result, nor prevent our ruin† (152). French involvement is for the protection of the nation, and it would seem this sentiment alone. The above documents seem to be the opinions and views of particular people throughout this tumultuous time. They show two motives: religious and political. What remains is to decipher if this theme is of value and if so, what value does it have and what can it tell historians about the war, as well as the approaching treaty that would come to rule European ideas on religion and government for decades to come.

Santee Sioux essays The late 1800s were a time of critical change for both white settlers and Native Americans. By the mid 1800s, the United States government was starting to put in place a series of treaties to try and keep the whites and Native Americans in separate territories. These treaties served to ensure the Indians a certain amount of land and therefore putting that land off limits to all settlers. By 1851 many treaties had been accepted and most were violated and eventually ignored. In September of 1851, the United States government enacted the Treaty of 1851 at Fort Laramie. The Treaty of Fort Laramie in 1851 was intended to ease tension between white settlers and Native Americans; however, when the settlers crossed lines guaranteed to the Santee Sioux and the government did not provide goods promised in the treaty, violence soon followed. Prior to the Treaty of 1851, the Santee Sioux was a self sufficient tribe. As white settlers started to take up the tribes land, the Santee began to stray from their typical woodland lifestyle. They began hunting with modern weapons and had many items of European cloth. Due to the rapid growth of the settlers moving into the Santees, and other Sioux tribes land, the United States Government sought out a way to please both sides and prevent or limit violence between the two groups. The Treaty of 1851 at Fort Laramie proposed many suggestions which were eventually agreed upon by both sides. The three major provisions of the treaty were an agreement on no violence between the two sides in the future, guaranteed land for each tribe which was not to be settled by the whites, and a government ration of money to each of the tribes for 10 years. The flammable materials that I could identify from the text that I was given were the lines of hanging patterns, the discarded rags on the floor and cutting tables, the shirts that have already been made, the table because they were probably made from wood and maybe the ceiling, walls and floor because that may have a material or something else flammable. The possible sources of ignition for the triangle shirtwaist factory fire could have been some faulty cables from the sewing machines causing the wires to rub together causing friction meaning that the cables would get hot and therefore this could be one ignition source. Another source could be gas lighters because in those days people were allowed to smoke in the work place. A gas lighter is not like a lighter nowadays because when it was alight it would not go out unless you put the cap over it unlike the lighter nowadays if you let go/ drop it the button comes back up instantly. Therefore, the gas lighter could have been a source of ignition if it was dropped. Another source of ignition could have been a cigarette. If it was not put out properly and was dropped, it could start the fire. Lastly, candles may have caused the fire because back in those days there would have been candles on each workbench so that the workers could see what they were doing because there were no lights back then. Due to there being candles around if one was knocked/ dropped it could have fell onto the rags on the floor causing the fire to start. Investigation of Liquid Combustion Introduction In this experiment, we will find out why some liquids burn at certain temperatures. Risk assessment Due to the fact that we are dealing with fire, long hair must be tried back goggles warn and lab coats on. There was also a risk of that somebody could bur themselves or set alight an object. In addition, if we were to pick up a hot crucible without gloves we must use appropriate equipment so that we do not burn our hands. Materials Crucible Heat proof mat Bunson Burner Tongs Splint String 1cm3 of kerosene 1cm3 of petroleum spirit. Method Petroleum (1cm3) was placed into a crucible and was then ignited using a lighted split. Once we lighted the petroleum and it had a burned we then poured 1cm3 of kerosene and attempted to ignite it using a lighted splint. After you have tried to light the kerosene with just a lighted splint place about 2-3 cm length of string into the crucible so that it is partly dipping into the liquid. Note the appearance how the kerosene lit. Results Petrol- The flame was quite tall and was yellow. The petrol ignited very quickly and there was soot around the edges of the crucible. When the petrol have burned the flame go smaller until it went out by itself. Kerosene- The Kerosene did not light so therefore there was no flame. Kerosene with string- The string slowly burnt away until it reached the crucible with the kerosene in which then ignited. It burnt with a tall, large yellow flame and left a lot of soot in the crucible when it had all burnt. Evaluation The experiments purpose was to investigate why certain liquids burn at different temperatures. By burning the petrol it showed us that it had, a low flash point so would ignite and burn easily. The kerosene by it selves did not burn meaning it have a high flash point, meaning it needs high temperatures to ignite and burn. Both the petrol and kerosene produced soot showing full combustion. Conclusion In conclusion, the petrol was the easiest ignite and could start a fire very easily while the kerosene did not light with just a lighted splint. It has a high flash temperature that why it is used as aeroplane fuel. Investigation of flames Introduction In this experiment we will be investigating how long it takes for a piece of paper to burn when lit from the top corner and the bottom corner. Risk Assessment Due to the fact that we are dealing with fire, long hair must be tried back goggles warn and lab coats on. There was also a risk of that somebody could burn themselves or set alight an object. Materials 2 sheets of A4 paper Heat proof mat Stands and Clamps Bunson Burner Splint Timer 2 sheets of A4 paper Method First we attached the clamps to the stands, and then attached a piece of A4 paper. We then lit the top of the short edge in the middle. It was then timed how long the piece of paper took to burn away completely and the time recorded. The experiment was then repeated with another piece of paper but lit at the bottom edge. Again it was timed until the paper was completely burned away and the time recorded. The Results `1st Paper: It started to burn instantly and spread downwards. The paper then dropped out of the clamps and fell to the table but it was not all burnt. After a while it all burnt out at 2 minutes and 11 seconds. 2nd Paper:. : It started to burn instantly and spread downwards. The paper then dropped out of the clamps and fell to the table but it was not all burnt. After a while it all burnt out at 23. 43 seconds.

Visual Communication: This is the last type of communication is the visual communication. Visual communication is visual demonstrate of information such as topography, Photography, sign, symbols, and designs. Television and videos clips are the electronic form of visual communication. Managerial Communication: Managerial communication is a function which helps managers communicate with each other as well as with employees within the organization Communication helps in the relocate of information from one party also called the sender to the other party is called receiver. Managerial Communication helps in the smooth flow of information between managers operational towards a common objective. The message has to be clear and well understood in helpful communication. The group members should recognize what their manager or team leader intends to communicate. Effective managerial communication enables the information to flow in its desired form among managers, team leaders and their respective teams. Managerial communication is of the following two types: Interpersonal Communication   Interpersonal communication normally takes place between two or more persons at the workplace. Organizational Communication   Communication taking place at all levels in the organization refers to managerial communication. behavior of Managerial Communication A successful manager is one who communicates successfully with his subordinates. It is really necessary for managers to converse their views undoubtedly for the group members to understand what exactly is likely out of them. Usually there are two ways managers communicate between themselves and with their subordinates: Verbal Communication: Communication done with the facilitate of the words is called verbal communication. No record is available in verbal communication. Managers must know how to communicate with the employees. He much select the right words while talking with group members. He tone of the voice should be polite and when manager is talking to the employees .They can understand easily what manager is say either they are confuse what manager is saying. Written Communications: Communications is done by emails, letters, reports, etc. Manager much knows how to write the letter or email to the employees. etc not to use color forts and also the size of the forts are same. Body Language: Manager must take care of their body language their appearance should b excellent. Manager should be friendly with the group member but not joking all the time. Managers have to maintain the standard. When the manager talk voice should be clear that everybody can hear and understand easily and most important thing is while he is talking or addressing the employees selection of words must be good. Organizational Communications: There are two types of organizational communication. Formal communication In formal communication Formal Communications: Commutation which fellow hierarchy at the work place. Employees much talk formally in the work place regarding the work done on time or not. Informal Communications: Mostly employees used to talk informally while they are having lunch or dinner or sitting together .E.g. planning for picnic or movie etc. Direction of Communications Flow: There are two types of direction of communication flow Upward communication Down ward communication. Upward Communications: Flow of the information from the employees towards managers .When employees share the view of the work nature, job, responsibilities and what they feel about the organization. Down ward communication: Down ward communication take place when the flow of the information from managers to workers. When manager give work to the employees is called down ward communication. Communications Barriers: There are a wide number of sources of noise or interference that can enter into the communication process which prevent the achievement of the desired result. There are five types of barriers. Language: Language is a big barrier in the communication like I speak Urdu and you speak Malaysian we cant talk to each other with a common language. We need translator or we can talk in common language like English Information Overload. If you are a manager of a company and you are taking to the workers which are not educated and you are telling them in good and selective word which they cant understand also communication barrier. Time pressure: You are manager of the company and you are addressing to the workers and you have only 15mins to say but you have to share the plane of the company and you are speaking fast .Few things are understand by the worker and they are confuse in few things is also the communication barrier. Emotions: You are sitting in the meeting and you gave work to the employees and they have to give output of the work but they are not able to give the result and you became angry and start shouting on him is also the communication barrier. Distraction / Noise: You are attending the formal meeting in the meeting room and discussing a serious issue and party is going on next to the meeting room and you also hear the noise of the cars and horn from the road and you are not concert at in the meeting is also the communication barrier. Recommendation: If you are on the manager post and you want to get more high post or you want to improve yourself to be a batter manager of the company so you have to learn at least 3 ways of communication skill which are as fellows. Clear communication: As a manager you must have to do clear management that everybody can understand easily and also when you are writing the letter to the employees you must know the art of writing the letter. Dont use color forts and different types of forts. Listen: As a manager you have to listen the employees .what they are saying is they are complaining or they want to share the information which is very important for the company .It is also your duty to listen the media and your competitors. This is important to improve your communication skills. Respect: As a manager you have to give respect to every employee in the organization either you are giving order to the employees. If a tense satiation is there you must be polite and dont disrespect the employees. This is also important for communication skills. Conclusion: Communication is very important in your life .Without communication we cant express your feelings. Sometimes communication barrier occurs so we cannot communicate with each other .Specially if your are working in the organization you much have to finish the communication barrier it is the betterment of the company .And for the manager s point of view they much improve their communication skills and body language of the manager should be excellent .Manager should be a role model he have the potential to work in the stress with patience.
